AMESBURY COLLEGE’S J. SCHOL ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER, LARGE-SCALE REUNION
 
BOSTON (March 20, 2012) – Boston’s oldest and academically excellent journalism school introduces the first-ever, large-scale reunion for all of its graduating classes (1931-2011) Oct. 12-13.  The reunion will be in conjunction with the school’s 80th anniversary celebration.
                Amesbury College’s Journalism dean, John Lancomb, said, “We’ve never attempted anything like this before.”  However, with records showing nearly 900 living alumni, Lancomb said, “We’re expecting a large turnout.”
                An Opening Night Toast will kick-start the reunion at Amesbury College’s Peterson Banquet Hall Friday at 3 pm.  The reunion will host two alumni musical groups and several notable guest speakers, including Proctor & Gamble’s Household Cleaners Division President, Gail Provost, and editor of the L.A. Times, George Smith.  
                “I owe practically all of my success to what I learned while at Amesbury,” Smith said, “While the newspaper business has certainly changed over the years, the school, to its credit, has remained on the cutting edge of journalism education.” 
                Alumni may participate in several activities throughout the Boston area during the weekend reunion. Some include Boston’s historical landmark tours, a wine tasting tour in the Inner Harbor, and a Boston Red Sox game.  A closing-night celebration banquet will conclude the reunion Saturday at 6 p.m.
                Amesbury College is a small liberal arts college in Boston.  Its reputation for academic excellence has consistently placed it in the top 10 private colleges in the country by US Weekly News Reports.

BOSTON (March 20, 2012) – Ninety eight, thirty five, forty seven, and twenty three: these are all ages of those attending the first-ever, large-scale reunion of the Amesbury College School of Journalism Oct. 12-13.  All graduating classes, from 1931-2011, are invited to attend.  The reunion will be in conjunction with Amesbury College’s 80th Anniversary.
                An Opening Night Toasting will begin the reunion Friday at 3 p.m. in Amesbury College’s Peterson Banquet Hall.  Several guest speakers will be hosting the event.
                Editor for the L.A. Times, George Smith, is among them.
